Visit to the Cotton District- Morgan
Thursday morning our class went on a trip to the Cotton District in Starkville. I enjoyed getting to see the unique building styles and the way all of the buildings fit together architecturally. The majority of the structures were inspired by European designs. The houses were relatively small, but groups of houses each shared a courtyard which can function as a place for people to socialize with each other. Local restaurants and businesses were also sprinkled into the landscape, all within walking distance from each other. The community fosters social interaction and local economy. It was a nice, peaceful, beautiful walk through a well-designed community.
