Our class at the Cooley Building on the edge of Mississippi State's campus and the Cotton District. The building is the original cotton mill and has now be adapted to office space and some industrial uses. We have been discussing sustainability and this was a perfect example to let us talk about adaptive reuse (the building may also change uses again and become student housing in the future), embedded energy, as well as natural daylighting, and natural cooling of buildings. From here we walked North into the district which was a urban renewal project in the early 1970's.
