Rhiannon- Trip to Cotton District

Yesterday, our class visited the Cotton District in Starkville, MS. We saw a lot of buildings that truly helped the community come alive. The energy there was so vibrant and comforting. I especially enjoyed the fountain beside the shops. Soon a painting in the intersection will also contribute to this area.  The painting will add to the feeling of community. It will give locals a sense of place, and make Starkville distinctive. We learned that most of the structures were inspired by pieces of Europe. The design for the community is to create a small town vibe in a big city. This will help bring unity to Starkville. I hope the rest of the state picks up on this ingenious idea.
